The National Child Traumatic Stress Network has issued a fact sheet for parents/caregivers for helping families cope with the 2019 novel Coronavirus (COVID 19).  The fact sheet covers family preparation and risk reduction, and focuses on dealing with the stress of a potential outbreak, for both children and caregivers.

NCTSN recommends minimizing exposure to media outlets or social media that might promote fear or panic, especially for kids.  “Check in regularly with your children about
what they have viewed on the Internet and clarify any misinformation.” Self-care tips include modifying daily activities to meet the reality of your current situation, and giving yourself small breaks from the stress of the situation.
